The Venture Story Guidebook
A way to turn your strategy into a concrete, comprehensive, & compelling narrative in 3 Acts, 9 Scenes, and 54 Beats
Merry Christmas!
Over the holiday break, I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am to you — my coaching clients — for the creative fuel you give me.
You show up authentically. You take on one small experiment at a time. And again and again, I’ve seen how those small experiments grow into big changes in your strategy, your culture, and your leadership.
When I launched Point C earlier this year, I said I do this work because I believe that leaders are leverage. When I focus on creating moments of impact with leaders like you — leaders who are building the kind of change I want to see in the world — I’m able to maximize my own potential. And I see the ripple effects of that work every day.
I hear mantras that originated in our sessions boomerang back to me through a new client, two or three steps removed from the original. I see clients take those mantras and make them their own, then watch as those ideas slowly become the language of their entire organization. One client recently told me their CEO had adopted their mantra in a company-wide meeting.
That’s what I mean when I talk about intentionally building a subculture — and then expanding it outward.
Every time I hear a story like that, it gives me more fuel and inspiration to continue this calling. Not just to create moments of clarity in our coaching sessions, but to build tools that can spread those ideas well beyond them.
Looking Ahead
As I look ahead to the new year, I see the shape of those tools coming into focus.
I can see a leadership playbook for building your own subculture of innovation. I can imagine a workbook that acts as a compass to help you chart your personal journey. And I know that through the act of building in public — out loud, alongside you — entirely new ideas will emerge that I haven’t even thought of yet. Ideas that may one day converge into that bigger book that many of you have asked for.
And with that vision in mind, as we enter the new year, I feel full. Full of energy. Full of gratitude. Full of possibility.
Since it's Christmas Day, I wanted this post to be a little different. I'll return to the theme of personal growth with The Personal Section Stack as we kick off the new year. But today, I want to give my coaching clients a small gift.

A Christmas Gift: The Venture Story Guidebook
If you’ve worked with me, you know one of my core mantras: Be prototype-driven.
That means I embrace imperfection. I build in the open. I iterate based on what I learn in real time.
This summer, I prototyped my first mini-book by writing each scene in public and stitching it together into what became version 1.0 of The Venture Story Workbook. As I’d hoped, it became a critical tool in my sessions — something I could offer clients as they worked through their strategies and startup ideas.
But as I tested it with more people, I realized it needed refinement. It lacked the right setup and context for someone who hadn’t already been introduced to the framework. It also worked better as a vertical, paper-sized, printable workbook — something that felt less precious, more inviting to mark up and iterate on. And I realized it needed a tool like The Rubric, in a more printable, readable, and customizable format, to help evaluate each Venture Story prototype.
So, I did what any good entrepreneur does: I iterated.
I’m calling this version The Venture Story Guidebook, and it’s my Christmas gift to you.
It will always be available as a free download for coaching clients and premium subscribers. But from now until my birthday on December 27th, I’m also making it available as a free gift to anyone who subscribes to the newsletter. If you know someone who might benefit, feel free to forward this along.
